X2CrNiMol8-15-4 is a molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel with improved corrosion resistance over  304/304L and 316/316L stainless steels. The increased chromium, nickel and molybdenum content on 316L stainless steel improves chloride pitting and general corrosion. By controlling nitrogen addition, X2CrNiMol8-15-4 can generally meet the mechanical properties of 317 straight grade while maintaining low carbon content.
