HuaNickel 309 is an austenitic heat-resistant alloy with an oxidation resistance of 1900°F at constant temperatures. When subjected to frequent thermal cycling, the alloy can resist about 1850°F. The high chromium content and relatively low nickel content of 309 provide a good high-temperature sulfur-containing atmosphere. 309 has only moderate resistance to carbon uptake and is not recommended for use in high carburizing environments. Usually in many product forms, the particle size and carbon content can meet the requirements of HuaNickel 0Cr23Ni13 at the same time. Prolonged exposure to temperatures in the range of 1100-1600°F will result in the formation of some sigma, reducing ductility and impact resistance at room temperature.
